Bringing Light After Loss: Help Us Spread Warmth and SummerJOY to Families in Need

Help turn summertime wishes into lasting memories for families in need.

Here's How It Works

At Joy Mission, we believe that every child deserves moments of happiness and hope—even in the midst of deep grief. That’s why we created the Summer Joy Program, a special initiative that oers scholarships to children who have experienced the profound loss of a parent. This program provides the opportunity for kids to attend summer camps, enrichment activities, and healing retreats—all designed to spark joy, build confidence, and create lasting memories. More than just fun, these experiences help children rediscover the light within themselves and connect with others who understand what they’re going through.

Each year, generous supporters make it possible for dozens of children to take part in these life-changing experiences—free of charge. We are proud to walk alongside them on their journey, offering comfort, connection, and the simple but powerful gift of joy.

What is Summer Joy?

Summer JOY is more than just a gift — it’s a way to bring love, hope, and healing to children who have experienced the profound loss of a parent. Through every donation, YOU, our community, help carry out this mission. Together, we brighten summers for grieving families by providing the gift of JOY when it’s needed most, sending deserving children to
summer camp at no cost.

How To Support Those Dealing with
Grief During Summer Break

Supporting someone through grief during summer break—a time often filled with family
traditions, vacations, and joyful memories—can make a quiet but lasting dierence. For
many, the season highlights the absence of a loved one in unexpected ways, making
ordinary moments feel especially tender.
Simply being there—listening without needing to fix, oering space for memories, or sitting
together in silence—can be profoundly comforting. Acts of practical help, like dropping o a
meal, watching the kids for an afternoon, or running a quick errand, may ease their load
more than you realize.
Small, thoughtful gestures—a kind note, an open invitation, or a check-in just to say you’re
thinking of them—can oer warmth and reassurance. Your presence, patience, and care can
help them feel a little less alone during a season that can quietly magnify their grief.
